Abuja, Nigeria
The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated the Republic of Tunisia on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, commemorating the country’s freedom from colonial rule in 1956.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended warm wishes to his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, describing the anniversary as a significant milestone in Tunisia’s journey toward sovereignty, national development, and democratic progress.
Nigeria commended the resilience and achievements of the Tunisian people, noting that the country has continued to make meaningful contributions to regional stability, economic growth, and institutional development in North Africa.
The statement also highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Tunisia, which it said are rooted in mutual respect, African solidarity, and shared commitment to cooperation. Both nations, it added, have sustained collaboration in multilateral platforms such as the African Union and the United Nations, promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across the continent.
According to the ministry, ongoing engagements between the two countries span key sectors including trade, investment, education, tourism, and cultural exchange, with both sides seeking to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people relations.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, the statement emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic dialogue and expanded partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
