Kaduna Police Command Arrests 523 Suspects, Rescues 102 Kidnap Victims in Two Months
The Kaduna State Police Command has recorded significant strides in its fight against crime, arresting 523 suspects for various criminal activities between October and November 2024. This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Abdullahi, during a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters on Monday.
Arrests and Crime Breakdown
CP Abdullahi disclosed that the arrests were linked to crimes such as kidnapping, cattle rustling, phone snatching, and rape. Among the suspects apprehended were:
- 26 kidnappers
- 12 cattle rustlers
- 97 phone snatchers
- 17 car snatchers
- 10 rape suspects
Several arms and ammunition were also recovered, including five AK-47 rifles, two pistols, and one submachine gun, alongside 283 rustled cows, 20 sheep, and 105 rounds of live ammunition.
Rescue Operations
Highlighting the Command’s achievements, Abdullahi noted that 102 kidnapped victims were rescued during recent operations. On November 24, 2024, officers foiled a kidnapping attempt, rescuing 89 victims and recovering a fabricated AK-47 rifle with live ammunition.
Black Spot Raids and Proactive Policing
With a focus on proactive measures, the Command intensified raids on criminal hotspots, resulting in the arrest of over 350 suspects, including notorious groups involved in phone snatching and the “Sara Suka” gang.
“As the 44th Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, I have prioritized proactive policing, community engagement, and collaboration with security agencies,” CP Abdullahi stated. “These strategies have yielded remarkable results due to the dedication of our officers.”
Notable Achievements
Other notable successes include:
- The arrest of a notorious kidnapper and four members of a high-profile kidnapping syndicate.
- Recovery of locally made firearms, charms, and stolen items.
- The arrest of a suspected gunrunner and recovery of a submachine gun.
Public Cooperation and Assurance
CP Abdullahi praised the public for their cooperation and assured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety across the state. “We are grateful for the public’s support and will continue working hard to maintain law and order,” he said.
In a supporting statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to reducing crime. “We urge citizens to support our efforts as we strive to make Kaduna State a safer place for all.”
