Plateau,Nigeria- The Nigerian Army announced yesterday night that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, approved the immediate deployment of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion of special forces to Plateau State to address renewed terrorist attacks.
The Army said the troops already in the state are expected to act decisively and aggressively, describing the deployment as a potential game changer in tackling insecurity.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, represented by Brigadier General Senlong Sule, welcomed the troops at the 3 Division Headquarters and urged them to be firm and ruthless in offensive operations against terrorists.
Major General Folusho Oyinlola said the Chief of Army Staff demonstrated proactive leadership by providing the required combat support and logistics for the mission.
Major General Folusho Oyinlola appealed to residents of Plateau State not to panic over the movement of troops and military equipment and called for continued public support through timely intelligence to help restore peace in the state.
