The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) says its Ward-Level Enrolment Drive, which commenced on Monday, February 16, 2026, is progressing steadily across the country.

The commission stated that the decentralised registration exercise was introduced to make it easier for citizens and legal residents to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN) at designated ward enrolment centres nationwide.

According to NIMC, the NIN remains a fundamental requirement for accessing essential government services, stressing the need for those who are yet to enrol to take part in the ongoing exercise.

In a statement, the Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, urged members of the public to visit the commission’s official website to find the nearest enrolment location.

He also advised applicants to cooperate with registration officials, provide accurate personal information, and follow NIMC’s verified communication platforms, including its social media accounts, for credible updates on the exercise.
