NRC Increases Abuja–Kaduna Train Trips Starting March 6

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced an increase in the number of trips on the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service.

It was announced today on the official Corporation’s social media platforms, where it stated that the new schedule will commence on March 6, 2026. According to NRC, the decision was made as the number of passengers traveling on the route has increased and there is a necessity to provide more travel options.

The Corporation stated that the March 28, 2022 bomb blast attack and the derailment that took place on August 26, 2025 which resulted in a decrease in available trains from three to one, the implementation of Temporary Speed Restrictions (TSR) for safety, and a change in the daily trip schedule.

With operations being changed and demand being on the rise, NRC stated that it has revised the schedule to accommodate additional passengers.

With the new arrangement, the service stated that there will be two trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and three trips on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays between Idu and Rigasa, with the trains stopping at Kubwa. The Corporation advised that passengers should comply with the new schedule and make plans accordingly. It also said that it is working on improving passengers’ experience and safety.
