The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commissioned five strategic projects as part of activities marking the 2026 International Civil Defence Day, in a move aimed at boosting its operational capacity nationwide.
The projects were inaugurated by the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, during a ceremony held both physically and virtually at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja.

Also present at the event was the Board Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Abdulmalik Jubril, who was represented by Alhaji Abubakar Musa, Deputy Director of Appointment and Promotion. Senior government officials, security chiefs and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.

According to a statement signed by the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, ACC Babawale Afolabi, the newly commissioned projects include a Standard Mini Fire Fighting Station to improve rapid emergency response and a 24-unit staff quarters at the National Headquarters to enhance personnel welfare.

Others are a VIP Protection Unit Office Complex named after the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, to strengthen high-profile security operations, and the Hydrocarbon and Maritime Security Command and Control Centre named after the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to bolster surveillance and protection of oil and gas assets. In addition, a project executed by the Bauchi State Command was commissioned virtually by a representative of the state governor.
Speaking at the event, Audi described the projects as a significant milestone in the Corps’ ongoing transformation drive, noting that the new facilities would enhance its ability to safeguard critical national infrastructure and effectively respond to emerging security challenges.
He also expressed appreciation to Zuma Energy Nigeria Limited and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for their partnership and continued support in protecting Nigeria’s critical assets.
