NUJ, FCT Council Partners Centre To Strengthen Capacity And Mentorship For Members

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has opened talks on a strategic partnership with the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) to strengthen capacity building, leadership training and mentorship for journalists in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), to equip its members with new skills and mentorship.

The move was formalised during a courtesy visit by the (NUJ) FCT leadership to the Centre LSD headquarters in Abuja. They were received by the Centre’s Executive Director, Mr Monday Osasah, who expressed readiness to collaborate with (NUJ) FCT in advancing leadership development, accountability and good governance.

The Executive Director, disclosed that the Centre runs a free leadership school, with 3,211 beneficiaries trained so far across centres in Benin, Warri, Port Harcourt and Abakaliki, alongside tailor-made international programmes. He added that the Centre is ready to support training, retraining and mentorship for NUJ members.

Responding, (NUJ) FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, said the Union is open to partnerships that promote ethical journalism, leadership development and good governance, noting that these align with the media’s role in accountability and public enlightenment.

Management staff of Centre LSD also outlined areas of mutual benefit, signalling the start of structured cooperation between both organisations.
