Hollywood actor cum Public Affairs Analyst, Kenneth Okonkwo has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for saying that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can not transmit election results electronically.

Okonkwo made this known while featuring on Channel Tv’s program, “Sunrise Daily” and monitored by AfrikTimes.

According to him, he said “The same APC that is telling you INEC cannot transmit results because of network is asking opposition parties to send digitalized. So they know that we can digitalize. It’s electronic. And INEC that did not ask for you to give them.”

Him stressed that he will personally hold the electoral umpire responsible if anything happens to the election in 2027.

“If anything happens to our election, i’m going to hold Josh and INEC responsible because by law, they have the independence to choose whatever they want to do.”

“INEC is the sole organization that conducts, supervises and undertakes election. So they should not give any excuse. Even if there was no provision for electronic transmission, they still ought to give us free and fair election, he added.

Okonkwo’s criticisms follow the directive from INEC that all political parties should maintain a digitalized membership register, a requirement they must meet to participate in the 2027 general election.

“The same APC that is telling you INEC cannot transmit results because of network issues is asking opposition parties to send digitalised membership in a month’s time.”
