Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire — Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has been awarded the prestigious title of Central Bank Governor of the Year at the 2025 African Banker Awards Gala, held on May 28 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Chair of the Awards Committee, Omar Ben Yedder, lauded Governor Cardoso for his bold and strategic leadership, which has been pivotal in stabilising the naira, enhancing transparency in the foreign exchange market, and rebuilding confidence in Nigeria’s monetary policies.
