By Nollywood star Opeyemi Aiyeola has reacted to the news of colleague Ibrahim Chatta’s recent bereavement, correcting reports that he had lost his biological child.
Speculation began after Chatta shared a post on Instagram expressing grief with the words: “Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on Dear Son. Champ.” The message quickly led to widespread claims that the actor’s son had passed away.
Aiyeola, however, explained on her verified Instagram handle that the deceased was Chatta’s godson, a boy he was very close to and regarded as his own. She described the period as painful and prayed for God’s mercy and comfort for the family.
“May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully… It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy,” she wrote.
As at the time of her clarification, Chatta himself had yet to make further comments on the matter.
