Ibadan, Nigeria — Pacesetter Queens FC, a newly established women’s football club backed by the Oyo State Government, was officially unveiled on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Ibadan, marking a bold step in the advancement of female sports in Nigeria.

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, presided over the unveiling ceremony, where the club’s new logo, dynamic coaching staff, and strategic vision were presented.

The initiative, she noted, is a direct reflection of Governor Seyi Makinde’s unwavering commitment to sports development and gender inclusion

“His Excellency’s dedication to empowering female athletes through financial backing and goodwill has made this milestone possible,” Adegoke stated, emphasizing the governor’s role in fostering equal opportunities for women in sports.

At the heart of Pacesetter Queens FC is a robust technical and welfare team, including Head Coach Akinwunmi Obajimi, First Assistant Coach Damilola Olaitan Badmus – a former player with a CAF C License, Second Assistant CoachZaccheaus Aderoju, Physical Trainer Lateef Lukman, Goalkeeper Trainer Foluso Ajayi – a FIFA-badged specialist, and Welfare Officer Miss Grace Towobola – holder of CAF and UEFA B Licenses.

The unveiling also featured goodwill messages from Nigerian football legend Mutiu Adepoju and Oyo State FA Chairman, Oba James Odeniran, both of whom expressed optimism about the club’s future.

Pacesetter Queens FC is set to undergo a one-month trial period for young female talents, after which a team bus will be provided. Preparations are underway to host training sessions at premier locations including the Adamasingba Stadium (main bowl and astroturf) and the Olubadan Stadium.

A formal flag-off event led by Governor Makinde is also planned as part of the club’s integration into Nigeria’s football ecosystem.

The club’s newly revealed logo, which embodies strength, unity, and ambition, reflects the broader goal of transforming women’s football in Nigeria, with aspirations for both national excellence and international impact.
