Pensioners in Taraba State have expressed profound appreciation to Governor Agbu Kefas following the release of ₦5 billion for the settlement of outstanding gratuities.
The retirees, who spoke during an interview at the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning in Jalingo, described the development as a major relief after years of waiting.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Rev. Philimon Ali and Asabe Muhammed, commended the governor for keeping his promise to address their long-standing entitlements. They noted that the payment process was smooth, transparent and efficient — a significant improvement from previous experiences.
According to the pensioners, the intervention has restored hope and confidence among retired civil servants, many of whom face financial and health challenges in old age. They urged the governor to sustain the momentum and continue prioritising their welfare.
Governor Kefas’ administration has consistently emphasised the importance of clearing pension backlogs, recognising the contributions and sacrifices of retired public servants. The ₦5 billion disbursement forms part of broader efforts to settle outstanding liabilities and improve the living conditions of pensioners across the state.
