Police Arrest Two Suspected Robbers, Recover Toy Guns, Illicit Drugs in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered two toy pistols and illicit drugs during a patrol along Elebu-Oja, off Alao-Alaka Expressway, Ibadan.

According to a press release signed by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, the police noted that they acted on intelligence received from residents of the community regarding the activities of hoodlums who they reported to have allegedly robbed unsuspecting members of the public along Elebu-Oja, off Alao-Alaka Expressway, Ibadan.

The suspects, identified as Elijah Teejay, 21, and Ottu Emmanuel, 33, were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Unit during a surveillance operation of the area.

The police noted that they recovered two toys pistols and some illicit drugs after searching these two suspects.

The swift response of the operatives prevented potential escalation of criminal activity and safeguarded the community,” the PRO noted.

The police added that the suspects confessed during interrogation to multiple robbery incidents along the axis and in other locations within and outside Oyo State. The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, has further instructed that the suspects be taken to court after investigations would have been concluded.

The Commissioner commended members of the public for their vigilance and timely information that aided the arrests and also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for his support towards the police force.
