By The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeals Committee has overturned the decision of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to banish Remo Stars from their home ground, ordering the club to resume playing its matches in Ikenne with immediate effect.
The NPFL had earlier sanctioned the defending champions over crowd disturbances that marred their Matchday 20 encounter against Ikorodu City on January 14. Following the incident, the league fined Remo Stars ₦7 million for breaching its Framework and Rules and directed the club to relocate its home fixtures to the Lekan Salami Stadium for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
In its ruling, the NPFL said the club failed to provide adequate security, leading to clashes between supporters of both teams. The disturbances reportedly caused injuries to away fans and damage to vehicles.
The disciplinary panel also found that Remo Stars did not ensure proper conduct of their supporters, citing alleged harassment and intimidation of match officials. It further reported that objects were thrown onto the pitch, resulting in repeated stoppages, and claimed that dangerous items were brought into the stadium — actions the league said brought the game into disrepute.
However, in a decision delivered on Friday, February 27, 2026, the NFF Appeals Committee set aside the banishment order, clearing the way for the club to return to the Remo Stars Stadium.
Remo Stars are now scheduled to host Katsina United on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in what will be their first home fixture since the sanction was lifted. The match will also mark the first game in charge for newly appointed coach Abdallah.
The Ikenne-based side currently occupy 19th position on the NPFL table with 27 points from 27 matches as they continue their battle to avoid relegation.
