The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular comedian and skitmaker, Sanku, who was involved in a fatal accident along the Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.
Actor Yemi Elesho confirmed his passing on Monday through his social media pages, sending a wave of grief across Nollywood and among fans.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the crash left several passengers injured. A video shared by influencer Jidex showed the wrecked car at the scene. Both Sanku and another victim sustained severe injuries, but the comedian did not survive.
Nollywood stars have since taken to social media to express their sorrow. Actress Funmi Awelewa described the news as “heartbreaking,” adding that the struggles, efforts, and sacrifices Sanku had made suddenly felt meaningless in the face of such a tragic loss. She also noted that one of his yet-to-be-released films will now serve as a painful reminder of his untimely exit.
In a twist that has left many reflecting, Sanku had only weeks earlier released a skit where he imagined himself in heaven after death. In the video, he joked about not finding familiar faces and urged his partner to “go to hell” so they could keep enjoying life together.
For Jidex, the accident is reminder of life’s fragility. “Someone who left home in good health is suddenly gone. It is painful,” he wrote, pointing out that the tragedy came barely a day after reality star Phyna lost her sister, Ruth Otabor.
