Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule on Monday created a light moment when he jokingly tried to persuade his Adamawa State counterpart, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The humorous appeal came during the public presentation of a book titled “Fintiri, the Man They Could Not Stop.”
While delivering his remarks, Governor Sule said he came prepared with “Tinubu’s cap” in case Fintiri was considering defecting to the APC.
According to him, the Adamawa governor already shares many values with the ruling party.
“You have APC in your DNA. We are on the same page with you. I even brought a Tinubu infinity cap in case you are thinking of joining the APC,” Sule said jokingly.
He added that APC leaders had been touring several states across the country, including Delta, Enugu, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Kano, Plateau and Taraba, suggesting that Adamawa could be next.
“Who knows, this may be another expedition I’m coming to undertake,” he remarked.
Turning more serious, Sule acknowledged the challenges of leadership, especially for second-term governors.
“My brother, as a governor in my second term, I understand the weight of leadership. I understand the loneliness of decision-making and the courage it takes to govern with conviction under pressure.
“Leadership is not about popularity at all costs. It is about clarity of purpose, consistency in service, patience and fear of God,” he told Fintiri.
The event, though centered on celebrating Fintiri’s political journey, provided a platform for friendly political banter and reflections on governance.
