The ongoing construction of the Nwonyo Lake Resort in Taraba State has been described as a landmark initiative with the potential to reposition the state as a leading destination for leisure and eco-tourism in Nigeria and beyond.

The project, currently about 60 per cent completed, is already attracting international interest, including investors from Caribbean countries who have reportedly indicated willingness to manage the facility upon completion.

As part of efforts to boost tourism development, the Taraba State Government has entered into a partnership with La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort to transform the lake into a major centre for leisure activities and ecosystem preservation.

A former federal lawmaker, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, who recently visited the project site in Ibi Local Government Area, said the Nwonyo Lake Resort has the capacity to attract tourists from across the globe and significantly enhance tourism development in the state.

Ojudu, who previously served as Special Adviser on Political Matters to former President Muhammadu Buhari, commended the Taraba State Government for its vision and collaboration with La Campagne Tropicana in developing the eco-tourism facility.

He expressed admiration for the pace and quality of work at the lake, describing the project as a unique initiative capable of drawing visitors from within and outside Nigeria.

According to him, the potential of the Nwonyo Lake is sufficient to rank it among the best tourism destinations in Africa.

“I am amazed by what is happening here. I see this as something that will attract many guests and visitors in the next two months. It is one of its kind in Africa,” he said.

Ojudu further noted that once completed, the project would not only enhance tourism development but also place Taraba State firmly on the global tourism map.

He added that the facility is expected to host visitors and investors from across the world, particularly those interested in tourism and hospitality.

The former lawmaker expressed optimism that the resort would stimulate economic growth, attract investment, and unlock the vast natural and cultural potential of Taraba State.

He therefore urged Nigerians and international tourists to visit the state and explore its rich natural attractions.

“I urge all Nigerians to come to Taraba. It is a beautiful place—come and enjoy its fruits and unique attractions,” he said.
