By The Hoba Kingdom in Hong, Adamawa State, has marked the first anniversary of the coronation of its Paramount Ruler, Tol Huba, Dr. Alheri Bulus Nyako, describing it as development-driven.
The colourful ceremony attracted traditional rulers, district heads, community leaders, supporters, and dignitaries from within and outside the Hoba Kingdom.
It was exactly one year ago that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri conferred the revered title of Tol Hoba on Dr. Nyako, who upon ascending the throne, recorded notable milestones in community development and institutional reforms aimed at improving the wellbeing of his people.
Speaking during the celebration, Dr. Alheri Bulus Nyako described the day as historic in his life and expressed profound gratitude to Governor Fintiri for entrusting him with the leadership of the chiefdom, noting that beyond the conferment of the title, his primary focus has been on delivering meaningful development to the Hoba people.
Highlighting achievements made, the Tol Hoba listed amongst others to efforts to improve electricity supply across communities, an initiatives supported by the World Bank, with a vision to illuminate the entire Hong area in the near future and community-driven development strategies, stressing that Hong is increasingly adopting home-grown solutions rather than depending solely on external assistance
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gida Mustapha, described the history of the Huba people as rich in culture and tradition, noting that the anniversary celebration was both timely and historic.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who was conferred with the traditional title of “Midala” during the event, thanked the Tol Hoba for the honour and congratulated him on his first anniversary describing the people as united, resilient, and guided by tested ideals, adding that their choice of monarch was a wise one
During the ceremony, Hong development action plan was also launched as dignitaries, diplomats, government officials, and other invited guests made Goodwill messages.
The event was attended by the Speaker and members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, senators representing Central and Northern Adamawa, retired civil servants, and other prominent personalities.
