Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has rescheduled his official visit to Kaduna State, choosing instead to travel to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in response to the enduring violence plaguing communities across the state.
The visit is part of intensified federal efforts to foster peace and provide direct presidential attention to the crisis, which has claimed many lives and caused widespread destruction.
President Tinubu is expected to meet with traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, youth representatives, and other stakeholders in a town hall dialogue to explore sustainable solutions to the unrest.
Ahead of the visit, the President deployed a high-powered delegation comprising the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, top intelligence chiefs, the National Security Adviser, and chairmen of the Senate and House defence committees to assess the situation and coordinate logistics.
Tinubu has previously condemned the violence and urged leaders and residents of Benue to prioritise peace, love, and understanding. He also extended condolences to families of the victims and those affected by the conflict.
According to an earlier itinerary, the President was meant to commission various projects in Kaduna on Wednesday. That visit has now been postponed to Thursday, June 19, 2025.
