Abuja, Nigeria- The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced yesterday that the 330/132/33kV New Apo Transmission Substation in Abuja is about 90 per cent completed and will add approximately 240 megawatts of electricity to the national grid when commissioned.
According to TCN, the project will increase bulk electricity available to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company for distribution to Apo and surrounding communities, including the African Medical Centre of Excellence.
TCN stated that the substation is equipped with two 150 megavolt ampere transformers, three 60 megavolt ampere transformers, and one 330 kilovolt voltage control reactor. TCN further delineates that the facility will receive power directly from the Lafia Transmission Substation in Nasarawa State through a 330 kilovolt double-circuit transmission line.
TCN added that the substation includes two 330 kilovolt line bays and will supply electricity into Abuja through nine 132 kilovolt feeders.
