Kaduna, Nigeria-The Nigerian Army announced today that troops rescued eight kidnap victims during a security operation in Kaduna State.
The operation was carried out in a forest area at Badurum Kasa in Kauru Local Government Area after security forces received information that kidnappers were hiding there with captives. When troops and other security personnel moved into the area, the suspects fled, leaving the victims behind.
Those rescued were identified as Rashida Musa, Hafsat Nuhu, Zakari Saleh, Hasiya Yahaya, Ahmed Yahaya, Ibrahim Saiba, Salma Yahaya, and Sophan Idris. Authorities confirmed that the victims were safely reunited with their families.
Security agencies involved in the operation included the military, police officers, local vigilante members, and forest guards. Efforts are ongoing to track down the suspects who escaped and to strengthen security in nearby communities.
