UEFA has announced that the highly anticipated Finalissima match between Argentina national football team and Spain national football team has been cancelled.
The match, which would have brought together the champions of Europe and South America, was initially scheduled to be played in Qatar. However, plans for the fixture were affected by the current political situation in the Middle East.
According to UEFA, efforts were made to move the match to an alternative venue, but the football governing bodies were unable to reach an agreement on a new host location.
The Finalissima, officially known as the “CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions“, is a one-off contest between the winners of the UEFA European Championship and the CONMEBOL Copa América. The previous edition was held in 2022, when Argentina defeated Italy 3:0 at Wembley Stadium.
However, no new date or venue has been announced for the fixture between Argentina and Spain.
