President Bola Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers to his cabinet, following a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday. This development is part of a broader reshuffle aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the administration, which has been in office for over a year.

In a statement issued by the presidency, it was noted that the appointments are part of “eight far-reaching actions” approved by the President to strengthen governance and fulfill his promises to Nigerians. Among the new appointees is Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who has been named Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Jumoke Oduwole has been appointed Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

Other notable appointments include Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Idi Maiha as the head of the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development, and Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development. Suwaiba Ahmad has been appointed as Minister of State for Education, while Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda replaces Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafra leader, previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and Spain and was Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs under President Goodluck Jonathan. Jumoke Oduwole, before her ministerial appointment, was Tinubu’s Special Adviser on PEBEC & Investment.

As part of the reshuffle, President Tinubu also dismissed five ministers, including Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women’s Affairs; Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development. Additionally, 10 ministers were reassigned to new portfolios.

This reshuffle reflects the President’s drive to boost his administration’s effectiveness and deliver on key promises made to the nation.
