Activist and social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, remains resolute in his stance amidst an ongoing defamation lawsuit filed by prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician and activist Falz. The legal dispute stems from allegations that Verydarkman shared unverified audio implicating the Falana family in misconduct.

In a recent Instagram update, Verydarkman announced his arrival in Lagos alongside his legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, ahead of the scheduled court hearing at Ikeja High Court at 9:00 a.m. The lawsuit was prompted by a recording Verydarkman posted in which crossdresser Bobrisky allegedly claimed that Falana and Falz had offered to secure a presidential pardon for her during her sentence in exchange for ₦10 million. Bobrisky has since refuted the recording’s authenticity and threatened legal action, accusing Otse of defamation.

The Falana family has demanded a public apology and retraction, warning of potential legal consequences. Nevertheless, Verydarkman has stood his ground, stating that his actions aimed to “expose corruption” rather than defame.

“They say I defamed them, but I was exposing corruption,” Verydarkman asserted in a video. “I question things that don’t make sense, like someone evading their sentence or authorities accepting bribes. That’s what I was pointing out.”

He added that he saw no need to apologize. “They [Falana and Falz] asked me to apologize, but I don’t believe I did anything wrong. If someone’s name is mentioned, they should address it themselves.”
