The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to residents of Abuja, particularly the Muslim community, while calling for sustained peace and unity ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

In a personally signed message marking the Eid al-Fitr celebration, Wike congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, describing the holy month as a period of “spiritual rejuvenation, self-reflection, and renewal.”

He urged residents to uphold the virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and unity cultivated during Ramadan, noting that acts of generosity and cooperation displayed across Abuja had reinforced the city’s reputation as a centre of unity, peace, and harmony.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, the minister assured residents that the FCT Administration would provide a conducive environment for political activities. He noted that, as the seat of government, Abuja would witness increased political engagements in the coming months but emphasized that measures were in place to ensure orderly conduct of campaigns and related events.

Wike appealed to residents, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnicity, or gender, to maintain peaceful coexistence, drawing inspiration from the conduct of the Muslim Ummah during Ramadan. He also encouraged prayers for the continued progress of the FCT and the nation.

The minister commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that it has improved socio-economic conditions in the territory and strengthened security in the nation’s capital.

Reassuring residents of safety during the festivities, Wike said security agencies were working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration, urging citizens to go about their activities without fear.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while transforming Abuja into a world-class city. Wike concluded by wishing Muslims a blessed celebration, praying for the acceptance of their fasts and good deeds, and expressing hope for a more united and prosperous Federal Capital Territory.
