The Youth Coalition for a Better Yobe State (YOCO) has stepped up efforts to promote civic responsibility through comprehensive voter education and sensitisation programmes across communities in Yobe State.

‎In its latest outreach, the State Coordinator, Mohammed A. Maina, led a sensitisation exercise in the Dikumari community of Damaturu Local Government Area (LGA).

‎Maina explained that the initiative aims to educate residents on the importance of voter registration, active participation in elections, and the proper collection and use of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

‎During the interactive session, facilitators highlighted the need for peaceful conduct during elections, stressing that every vote counts in determining credible leadership. Community members were also advised to avoid electoral violence, misinformation, and other activities that could undermine democratic processes.

‎Addressing participants, Maina urged all eligible citizens—particularly youths and women—to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration process and remain actively engaged in upcoming electoral activities.

‎Residents of Dikumari commended YOCO for bringing the awareness campaign to their community, noting that the initiative has significantly improved their understanding of civic responsibilities and democratic rights.

‎The Youth Coalition for a Better Yobe State reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening democracy and fostering responsible citizenship through sustained grassroots engagement and educational outreach across the state.
