The Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Atlas Lion of Morocco will today battle for a place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), when they meet in a high-stakes semi-final in Rabat later tonight.
The Super Eagles booked their spot in the semi-finals, having won all five of their matches so far. Now they face the ultimate challenge against a Moroccan side by 8pm local time.
The Super Eagles 2–0 quarter-final victory over Algeria further cemented their status as one of the tournament’s most convincing sides and rekindled memories of the team’s dominant displays of past eras.
Morocco on the other hand is chasing only their second AFCON title since lifting the trophy in 1976.
The Atlas Lions have looked solid throughout the competition and will rely heavily on Brahim Diaz, whose five goals make him the tournament’s leading scorer.
The North Africans defeated the Super Eagles twice during the 1976 tournament and secured a narrow 1–0 victory in their most recent AFCON meeting in 2004.
