Lagos, Nigeria — The Lagos State Police Command on January 14, 2026, activated a CCTV Surveillance Centre on Lagos Island to strengthen security monitoring across the area and its environs.
The activation was announced by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, in a post on X on Sunday.
The centre, launched under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, provides real-time surveillance of the Third Mainland Bridge, surrounding waterways, and other strategic locations on the island to support crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.
Built and fully equipped by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Works under the supervision of the Minister, Engr. Dave Umahi, the facility operates as Control Room 5 and runs round the clock with trained officers on duty.
Two operational vehicles were handed over to the Lagos State Police Command on January 16, 2026, to support the centre’s operations.
