Taraba Begins Screening and Payment of 2015 Retirees’ Gratuities, Approves N5bn for Settlement

The Taraba State Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning has announced the commencement of screening and disbursement of outstanding gratuities and death benefits for retirees in the 2015.

‎The Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry, Dr. Sarah Enoch Adi, FCNA, ACTI, made the announcement on Sunday, stating that the exercise will begin on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Jalingo. The screening is scheduled to commence promptly at 9:00 a.m.

According to Dr. Adi, the exercise will primarily focus on eligible pensioners from the year 2015, while also accommodating a final mop-up phase for outstanding beneficiaries from the 2013 and 2014 cohorts.

‎All eligible beneficiaries are required to present the following original documents for verification:

A valid Identification Card

‎Official Pension Approval Letter

Letter of First Appointment

For beneficiaries processing death benefits, the designated next of kin must present an original Letter of Administration.

The Commissioner assured that the Ministry is committed to ensuring a transparent and efficient process. She urged all concerned retirees to adhere strictly to the scheduled date, time, and documentation requirements to facilitate smooth and timely service.

Dr. Adi further disclosed that the exercise reflects the commitment of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas to the welfare of retirees in the state. She revealed that the Governor has approved an additional allocation of N5 billion specifically for the settlement of outstanding gratuities and death benefits.

‎“This initiative underscores the administration’s deep respect for the dedicated service of our senior citizens,” she state

The Commissioner also warned the public against fraudulent individuals attempting to exploit retirees by demanding money in exchange for facilitating payments.

‎“It has come to our attention that some unscrupulous persons are illegally soliciting funds from retirees under the pretense of assisting them to access their benefits. The Governor condemns these exploitative practices in the strongest terms,” she said.

Dr. Adi emphasized that any civil servant or individual found engaging in such fraudulent activities will face severe disciplinary and legal consequences.

She reaffirmed the government’s determination to protect the rights and welfare of both serving and retired public servants, assuring that the process will be conducted with integrity and accountability.
