By The Management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has announced the passing of one of its former Vice Chancellors, late Professor Buba G. Bajoga who died on Thursday at the age of 88.
The Registrar and Secretary of Council of the University, Kabiru Garba Aminu in a statement issued to newsmen in Bauchi said Professor Buba G. Bajoga passed away on Thursday, 5th February 2026, in the United Kingdom where he will subsequently be buried.
Kabiru Garba said the late Professor Buba G. Bajoga was a renowned academic in the field of Electrical Engineering, who served as the Second Vice-Chancellor of ATBU and also as the former Managing Director of Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL).
He explained that his legacy is etched in the history of ATBU and the nation, marked by his unwavering commitment to academic excellence, institutional development, and the advancement of education in Nigeria.
The Registrar added that on behalf of the Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of Council, Air Commodore Emmanuel K. Jekada rtd, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba and the entire University Community extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Professor Buba Bajoga, the people and Government of Gombe State.
