The Adamawa State Government has appealed to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to broaden the scope of its intervention projects in the state to further enhance the living conditions of residents.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made the appeal on Tuesday through his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, while receiving the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmed, at the Government House in Yola.

The governor explained that the continuous influx of people from neighbouring Borno and Yobe states had placed significant pressure on existing infrastructure and public services in Adamawa. He stressed that additional support from the NEDC had become necessary to cope with the increasing demand.

Fintiri assured the commission that all projects executed in the state would be properly utilised and maintained to achieve their intended objectives. He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to working closely with the NEDC to ensure sustainable development.

‎Earlier, Minister Ahmed commended the achievements of the Fintiri-led administration, describing its developmental efforts as impressive and inclusive. He stated that his visit was part of ongoing inspections and commissioning of NEDC projects, which would be officially handed over to the Adamawa State Government for public use.

‎Meanwhile, similar commissioning exercises were carried out in Gombe State, where several NEDC-funded projects were inaugurated. These include a Central Medical Store equipped with modern facilities, lecture halls at Gombe State University, and numerous educational structures at Government Secondary School, Malam Sidi.

‎Managing Director of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, reiterated that the commission remains focused on rehabilitation, reconstruction and sustainable development across the North-East region.
