The Adamawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed church leaders across the state to mobilise eligible members to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and take an active role in the democratic process.
In a formal communication signed by the State Chairman, Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, the association instructed bloc leaders, bishops, denominational heads, pastors, and leaders of Christian organisations to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
According to the statement, all eligible church members under their supervision must possess valid PVCs. Those yet to register were urged to immediately visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to complete their registration in accordance with existing electoral laws.
Beyond voter registration, CAN encouraged members to freely and voluntarily register with any political party of their choice, stressing that such decisions must be made without coercion, restriction, or preference for any specific party.
The association further advised members to participate lawfully in civic and electoral activities by fulfilling all statutory requirements necessary to vote and, where qualified, to contest elective offices.
Reaffirming its position, CAN Adamawa emphasised its commitment to fairness, credibility, and righteousness in civic engagement, noting that the Church remains a moral voice for justice, accountability, and the promotion of democratic values in society.
