The Adamawa State House of Assembly has received two important committee reports addressing social protection and insecurity in parts of the state.
First, the House Standing Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development presented its report on a bill seeking to establish a Social Protection Law for Adamawa State.
The proposed legislation is aimed at creating a legal framework to support vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the House also received a report from the Standing Committee on State Security and Sustainable Development Goals, chaired by Honourable Emanuel Kefas.
The committee presented findings from a fact-finding visit to villages affected by insecurity in Hong Local Government Area.
During the visit, the committee interacted with community leaders, residents, and security personnel to assess the situation.
The report revealed that several communities have experienced attacks leading to loss of lives, destruction of property, displacement of residents, and disruption of farming activities.
The Adamawa State House of Assembly is expected to deliberate further on both reports.
