The Nigeria women’s national football team bounced back from their earlier defeat to defeat the Cameroon women’s national football team 3–1 in a high-intensity pre-WAFCON friendly clash on Tuesday, March 3, in Northern Yaoundé.

Recall that AfrikTimes reported that the Super Falcons suffered a narrow loss in the first meeting after conceding a late goal. However, the return fixture told a different story as the African champions showed resilience against their opponent.

Cameroon struck first, taking the lead inside the opening exchanges to put the hosts ahead. But Nigeria responded with urgency and control, pressing forward in search of an equaliser.

Their persistence paid off in the 32nd minute when Chinwendu Ihezuo rose highest to power home a header from Rinsola Babajide’s delivery, restoring parity.

Just before the break, Babajide turned from provider to scorer. Following a scramble inside the box, she reacted quickest to fire Nigeria into the lead, completing a swift comeback before half-time.

The Falcons maintained their dominance after the interval and extended their advantage in the 64th minute. Michelle Alozie climbed above her marker to head home a fine cross from Rasheedat Ajibade, sealing a convincing 3–1 victory.

Football fans, nationwide, will see this win as a strong response ahead of the forthcoming WAFCON tournament, as Nigeria continue preparations with confidence.
