The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba Barracks near Jos, has inaugurated a special military operation aimed at tackling banditry and other security threats in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Jos by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations of the division, Lt.-Col. Victor Olukoya.
According to Olukoya, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Maj.-Gen. Folunsho Oyinlola, officially inaugurated the operation as part of renewed efforts to restore peace and stability in vulnerable communities.
The operation, code-named “Operation Bugun Karkanda III,” is specifically focused on Mansur village and surrounding settlements within Alkaleri LGA, areas that have experienced security challenges in recent times.
Olukoya explained that the initiative is designed to curb the activities of terrorists, bandits and other non-state actors threatening the safety and livelihoods of residents in Bauchi State.
He said the GOC charged the troops to remain highly professional and committed to achieving the mission, describing the operation as a renewed military posture aimed at delivering tangible security results.
“The GOC underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army to the safety of lives and property and reaffirms the division’s unwavering dedication to protecting vulnerable communities across its area of responsibility,” Olukoya stated.
He further noted that early results from the operation have already begun to emerge, with troops recording positive strides in the ongoing security efforts.
