Daniel Bwala Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has reacted to his recent interview with Mehdi Hasan on the Head to Head.

The interview, published on Friday, March 6, drew strong reactions from Nigerians online after Mehdi asked Bwala why he now speaks for a government he once criticised.

In a post on X on Saturday, Bwala said social media had been filled with different opinions about the interview. He said he accepted the job knowing the responsibility that comes with defending the government.

According to him, his duty is to promote and defend the administration of President Tinubu and he is ready to face any interviewer anywhere in the world.

Bwala also said the show contacted him months earlier for an interview on security, the economy and corruption. He said he was not informed that questions would focus on his past criticism of the president.

He added that some of the quotes used during the interview were inaccurate and described some of them as fake news.

Bwala said comments he made about Tinubu in the past were made when he was in the opposition, adding that such changes are common in politics.

He thanked Nigerians who supported him after the interview and said he still respects Mehdi Hasan as one of the best debaters. He also said he looks forward to a second part of the interview where he hopes the discussion will focus on the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration.
