LCCN National Convention Emphasises ‘Christ in Me, the Hope of Glory’

The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) has concluded its 2026 Annual National Convention in Numan, with participants urged to allow Christ to dwell in their hearts as the true source of hope and transformation.

The convention, which featured Bible teachings, seminars, prayers and musical ministrations, was held under the theme “Christ in Me, the Hope of Glory,” drawn from Colossians 1:27.

The event was designed to strengthen the faith of Christians and encourage them to open their hearts to the word of God through various teachings and ministrations delivered during the convention.

Dean Rev. Oliver Iliya also delivered a teaching on “Giving,” based on 2 Corinthians 8:5, encouraging Christians to embrace generosity as part of their faith.

Other sessions included a seminar titled “Clash of Altars,” presented by Bishop Dr. Rhema L. Bitrus, and another seminar on Mental Health and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, facilitated by Mrs. Ngurteino Bongi Tongji.

The convention also featured musical performances by guest artists, Bible study sessions were also coordinated by Dean Rev. Herimas Othniel, who served as group leader, alongside Rev. Maliki Thomas, Rev. and Rev. Benjamin Solomon among others.

Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the convention, the LCCN Bishop, Rev. Nelson B. Malau, expressed happiness over the successful gathering, describing it as spiritually uplifting for members of the church across the country.

He called on government at all levels to initiate policies that would promote peace, security and employment opportunities for young people, stressing that addressing youth unemployment would help reduce social vices and strengthen national development.

Rev. Malaysia also urged Nigerians to actively participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them vote during elections.

According to him, responsible participation in elections is essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring that credible leaders emerge to govern the country.

Participants described the convention as spiritually enriching, noting that it provided an opportunity for believers to deepen their understanding of the word of God and strengthen fellowship within the church.
