Singida Black Stars have cleared Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie of match-fixing allegations and revoked the three-month suspension earlier imposed on him by the club.
In an official statement issued by the club’s management, Singida Black Stars said a preliminary investigation conducted through its disciplinary committee found no evidence linking the player to match-fixing or gambling.
The club said the investigation followed concerns raised by fans and stakeholders after a series of errors in recent matches, including games against Flambeau du Centre in the CAF Confederation Cup, as well as fixtures against Pamba Jiji and Namungo FC in the NBC Premier League.
According to the club, after reviewing the incidents alongside the player’s defence and a statement from the club’s chief executive, the errors that triggered suspicion were determined to be technical mistakes during matches.
“The incidents that raised these concerns have been determined to be technical errors within the game itself,” the statement said.
The club added that Obasogie had apologised for the circumstances that led to the allegations and assured management and supporters that he would work on the weaknesses identified to improve his performance.
Following the outcome of the investigation, the club said it had decided to withdraw the earlier suspension and allow the goalkeeper to continue his duties with the team.
“In light of this, the Club has decided to revoke its earlier decision to suspend him for three months, and the player has been allowed to continue with his club duties,” the Club noted.
Recall that on February 27, 2026, news broke on several media platforms that Obasogie, who is also a goalkeeper for the Nigeria Super Eagles, had been suspended for three months by his Tanzanian club over an alleged match-fixing issue. The report drew widespread criticism from Nigerians and football stakeholders, many of whom said the development could damage the image of the national team.
