By Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) defeated Rivers United 2–1 in a closely contested fixture in the Nigeria Premier Football League rescheduled fixture on Thursday, March 11.
In the 34th minute at the Lekan Salami Stadium, 3SC attacker Sodiq Ibrahim opened the scoring with a firm header to give the Ibadan side the lead.
After several attempts, the visitors eventually broke through Shooting Stars’ defence, scoring a 64th-minute equaliser.
Substitute Qamar Adegoke later secured victory for 3SC in stoppage time, slotting the ball home in the 92nd minute after a free kick was manoeuvred into the net.
The win lifts Shooting Stars into the top six on the league table with 44 points from 29 matches, while Rivers United remain league leaders with 52 points from 28 matches, just two points ahead of Enugu Rangers.
