Abiodun Ayoyinka, popularly known as Papa Ajasco, has rebranded on Instagram with the handle “bondualaska,” where he now posts skits.
He earlier shared his account number on the platform and later posted receipts showing donations from Nigerians on his Instagram story. Influencer King Mitchy was also seen giving him bundles of cash.
AfrikTimes earlier reported that Ayoyinka, in an interview with media personality Lucky Udu on YouTube, explained why he is not often seen in public spaces. He said the “Papa Ajasco” character belongs to Wale Adenuga Productions, which makes it difficult for him to use the character outside the company.
He said this is why he does not appear in adverts or on billboards. He also said he does not own a car or a house. According to him, he does not own the character or the costume and cannot use them outside the production.
Ayoyinka added that opportunities have been limited because many people want him to appear strictly as Papa Ajasco, not as himself. He also said he is not active on social media and still works with the production company. He noted that the show now focuses on “Gen Z Papi,” which he described as a new concept.
Following his claims, veteran producer Wale Adenuga responded via Instagram through his production’s official page, disagreeing with the statements and stating that they do not reflect their working relationship.
Adenuga described the viral video as a creative attempt to take the Papa Ajasco character beyond television. He said there is nothing wrong with Ayoyinka using social media to earn money and gain visibility.
He added that Ayoyinka has always been an important part of the production and closely fits the original character idea he created in 1976. He also said there has been no serious disagreement between them.
Adenuga said there has been misinformation since the interview and explained that his response was to correct the record and protect the brand.
He also said Ayoyinka worked for over 30 years in the Lagos State civil service and was part of the state cultural troupe. During that time, according to the veteran Producer, the production team often needed approval before he could join filming. He added that Ayoyinka was known by top figures, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his service.
On support, Adenuga said the company has helped him over the years, including giving him a car at some point. He also said Ayoyinka has used different cars, including a Mercedes-Benz, and owns a house in Ogun State, to his knowledge.
He explained that actors are free to take other jobs, but using the “Papa Ajasco” name for personal work needs approval to protect the brand.
He questioned why Ayoyinka described himself as broke, considering his years in government service and his retirement benefits.
Adenuga added that other actors from the show appear in different productions, showing there are no restrictions. He also said filming only takes a few weeks each year, giving actors time for other work.
He maintained that payments are made properly and said claims of neglect or unfair treatment are not accurate.
