Abuja, Helen
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that its zoning arrangement will serve as the guiding framework for its forthcoming National Convention, scheduled for March 29 and 30 in Abuja. This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday in the nation’s capital.
The communiqué, jointly signed by Mr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Secretary of the NCWC, reaffirmed the party’s preparedness for the convention themed “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”
The NEC directed all relevant organs and committees to ensure seamless coordination to deliver a successful, credible, and transparent convention. Central to the meeting was the reaffirmation of the party’s zoning formula for national elective positions, which it said aligns with its long-standing principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance.
The party also disclosed that the sale of nomination forms for the convention has commenced, urging aspirants to adhere strictly to approved guidelines and timelines. Reiterating the supremacy of the party, the NEC called on members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the collective interest of the PDP.
It further expressed satisfaction with the conduct of Ward, Local Government Area, State, and Zonal Congresses nationwide, ratifying the reports and commending party leaders, electoral committees, and stakeholders for ensuring peaceful and credible processes.
On membership mobilisation, the NEC reviewed the ongoing electronic registration exercise, praising the progress recorded so far and encouraging wider participation across the country.
The party expressed confidence in its renewed strength, unity, and organisational capacity, assuring Nigerians of its readiness to provide purposeful leadership and clear national direction.
