Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election at the Unity rally jointly organised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All People’s Movement (APM) to formalise the alliance between the two parties.
Makinde made the declaration on Thursday during a mega rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where he also unveiled the ‘Reset Nigeria Movement ‘ and a dedication campaign website aimed at mobilizing support across the country.
The Governor said the new movement focused on rebuilding public trust and strengthening national institutions.
“Nigeria cannot continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions and create a system that works for all Nigerians,” Makinde declared.
He said that Reset Nigeria agenda will focus on economic growth, job creation, quality of education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, power sector reforms security and institutional strengthening.
He urged residents to remain engaged and to hold leaders accountable, stating that sustainable change depends on active citizen participation. “Leadership is a trust. When the people rise and demand better, we are compelled to deliver better,” he said.
Today marks the beginning of a new journey of our dear country. We are not just declaring a candidacy, we are announcing the birth of a new nation where equity, progress and development are not just slogans but realities for every Nigerian,” he stated.
