The Labour Party has warned that any nomination forms issued by former National Chairman Julius Abure are “worthless paper” being sold by a “serial political scammer,” as it declared Senator Nenadi Usman the party’s only legitimate leader ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by Ken Asogwa, the National Publicity Secretary, stated that the party’s attention has been drawn to with the circulating social media pictures showing Julius Abure presenting what he described as “nomination forms” to certain individuals in Abia state.

The party expressed that they had resolved in ignoring the recent happening, but the statement is necessary in view of widespread concern and request for clarification.

The statement highlighted that Senator Nenadi Usman is the National Chairman of Labour party and nomination of forms should be obtained through the office of the National Secretariat.

“Let it be stated clearly and unequivocally that Senator Nenadi Usman is the National Chairman of the Labour Party, and all legitimate nomination forms for every elective position ahead of the 2027 general elections can only be obtained through the official National Secretariat of the party located in Utako, Abuja”

The statement further expressed that “any so called Labour Party nomination form obtained from Julius Abure or any other unauthorized source is nothing but worthless paper being peddled by political fraudsters seeking to deceive unsuspecting persons. The general public is therefore advised to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to the antics of desperate political scam artists masquerading as party officials”

The party also questioned why Abure sales of nomination forms appear concentrated in Abia state alone. They also said he is mistaken if he imagine Governor Alex Otti, the national leader of the party will bow to cheap blackmail.

The party warned that his continued impersonation of the chairmanship role carries serious legal consequences

“Julius Abure’s continued impersonation of the office of the National Chairman of the Labour Party remains criminal office of serious legal consequence that has reached an intolerable height” the statement reads.

On May 15 2026, Julius Abure, the factional chairman was presenting nomination and expression of interest forms for the Abia State gubernatorial election to Hon. Ceekay Kalu Igara, the party’s factional National Vice Chairman (South East). When presenting the forms to him, Abure said that Hon. Ceekay is the only Labour Party governorship aspirant in Abia state and that they don’t know Governor Alex Otti.

The Federal High Court in Abuja officially sacked Julius Abure, who was claiming to be the leader of the party on January 21, 2026. The same court declared Senator Nenadi Usman as the original and authentic National Chairman of the Labour party and ordered INEC to recognize her as the chairman, which INEC has done.
