Makinde Endorses APM’s Adekanbi, Says ‘Don’t Inherit My Enemies’ as Omituntun 3.0 Unveiled

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has advised the governorship consensus candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bimbo Adekanbi, to build his own political identity and avoid carrying personal political conflicts into a future administration.

At the official unveiling and endorsement of Adekanbi as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM ahead of the 2027 general election.

The governor appreciated the people of Oyo state for their support and the political structure in the states expressed optimism that the “Omituntun” vision of governance would continue beyond his tenure of office.

“You have seen Omituntun 1.0 and Omituntun 2.0, Omituntun 3.0 will be even sweeter and better for the people of Oyo State,” Makinde declared.

The governor, however advised Adekanbi against carrying personal political conflicts into a future administration, stressing the need for independent leadership and fresh perspectives

“I have told Bimbo not to inherit my enemies. He should chart his own course. I am only human and I made mistakes just like every other person,” he said.

“Whatever we have done that can be improved upon should be improved upon for the benefit of our people in Oyo state. Leadership is about growth, learning and putting the people first at all times,” Makinde Added.

The APM governorship consensus candidate, Bimbo Adekanbi stated that the occasion is a defining moment in the political history of Oyo State, it’s a moment that symbolized continuity, stability and the consolidation of ongoing developmental strides in the state.

Adekanbi further commended Governor Makinde for restoring the public confidence in governance through impactful projects and inclusive governance.

“Today is not just another political gathering. Today is history speaking. Today is destiny unfolding. Today is the continuation of a movement that has restored hope to our people and dignity to governance in Oyo state,” he stated.

Adekanbi lauded Seyi Makinde for his strategic investments in infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, workers’ welfare and security.

“At a time when many had lost faith in governance, Governor Makinde restored confidence. At a time when politics was driven by bitterness and division, he chose inclusion, competence and compassion,” he added.

The APM candidate assured the public that if elected in 2027, his administration would build on the achievements of the current government through what he termed “continued development” under the proposed “Omituntun 3.0” agenda.

“The current security challenges confronting our people underscore the urgent need for sustained investment, stronger collaboration and improved coordination among security agencies,” he stated.

“In Omituntun 3.0, we will continue to place the security of lives and property at the forefront of governance because, without peace and security, our people cannot fully enjoy the developmental gains envisioned in our agenda.”

Adekanbi also appreciated the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for its collaboration and alliance with the APM, noting that politics should strengthen relationships and collective aspirations rather than create division.
