Makinde Bans Night Okada Operations in Oyo Over Oriire Abductions

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has signed executive order restricting motorcycle operations between 10:30pm and 5:30pm in Oyo State.

Makinde expressed their grievances regarding the abduction of children and teachers in Oriire. He assured that rigorous efforts are being carried out by the government to rescue those in captivity.

“We will not relent until our teachers and children have returned safely home. Everyday, they remain in the captivity is a painful day for their families, their communities and all of us in Oyo state. I want to assure our people that efforts are ongoing and safe return of those in captivity remain a top priority in the administration.”

He assured the citizens that those in captivity are not forgotten or forsaken. He analyzed that the mode through which they’ll be rescued will not be disclosed due to sensitivity of the matter.

“I will urge our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great work is done behind the scene and we remain fully engaged with all relevant security agents.” He added.

Makinde introduced an executive order to enhance security in the state, “consequently, the operations of commercial motorcycle operations, popularly known as Okada riders has been restricted between 10:30pm and 5:30pm throughout Oyo State. We can create laws and regulations for their success ultimately depends on the cooperation of our people.”

Makinde strongly advised that this is an opportunity for everyone in Oyo state as this is a shared responsibility.
