‎The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the submission of the names and particulars of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‎According to an X post on Tuesday night, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the nomination details of Atiku, a former Vice President, and former Rivers State Governor Amaechi have been successfully uploaded to INEC’s nomination portal.

‎”We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi (CON), to the nomination portal of @INECNigeria,” he said.

‎According to Abdullahi, the submission represents another major step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general election. He said the move reflects the party’s commitment to “offer Nigerians a credible alternative” that is “built on competence, unity, and national renewal.”

‎Atiku won the ADC presidential primary with 1,846,370 votes, defeating his two contenders, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, former Managing Director of the defunct FSB International Bank, and Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, on May 27, 2026.

‎Speaking after emerging as the party’s flag bearer, the former Vice President urged Hayatu-Deen and Amaechi to “close ranks and join me in the fight to rescue Nigeria’s democracy.”

‎Abdullahi also confirmed Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate for the 2027 election, noting that his selection followed extensive consultations by the ADC leadership with key party stakeholders.
