By An unidentified man was reportedly taken away by armed men in plain clothes around the Tanke Balogun area of Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday, 20th of July 2026 according to an eyewitness account shared on X.
The eyewitness, who posted via the handle @CHUKSEricE on Monday, said that the men bore pistols and wore no uniforms as they forcefully took the man away. “Trending video shows unidentified men with pistols allegedly forcing a man into their vehicle at Tanke Balogun area of Ilorin, Kwara State” @CHUKS.
The post has since drawn reactions from netizens, many of whom expressed concern over the manner of the operation.
One commenter suggested the armed men could be operatives of the police force. “That’s how they operate in Ilorin; they don’t wear uniforms, but that’s how they operate, and it needs to stop,” @ THE_dewalee wrote.
While some users believed the men might be plainclothes security operatives, others feared the incident could be a case of kidnapping, querying the lack of security alertness among onlookers at the scene.
The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command had not responded to enquiries on the incident as of press time.
