At least 11 people are feared dead after suspected Boko Haram fighters attacked Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State early Monday morning, shooting residents and setting homes on fire.

A resident, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, said search efforts were still underway as of Monday. “For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered. Many people are still missing. Search teams and security personnel are in the forest searching for the missing people,” he said.

The attack has already claimed entire families. Another resident said his wife and two other relatives were among those killed. “My wife and two of my family members were also killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said.

Attempts to reach the Adamawa State Police Command for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of filing, according to a PUNCH report. This is a developing story, and more details are expected as the search continues.
