By Tension has been reported in parts of Osun State following the reported killing of a popular individual in Osun, which happened in Ile-Ife, and sporadic shooting in Osogbo.
Reports circulating on social media indicate that a popular individual in the state was killed in Ile-Ife. Details surrounding the reported incident, including the circumstances of the death, remain unclear.
Speaking with our correspondent on a phone call, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the PPRO of Osun State Police Command, however, said the state police command was still gathering facts regarding the Ile-Ife incident. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, told AfrikTimes that the Command was working to establish what happened and would provide further information when the facts were clear.
Meanwhile, the Command has confirmed that sporadic shooting occurred in the Jolayemi area of Osogbo.
According to the PPRO, the Divisional Police Officer in the area and his men had been deployed to the scene to assess the situation and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had not disclosed the cause of the shooting, the number of casualties, or whether any arrests had been made.
The separate developments have heightened concerns among residents, with details of both incidents still emerging.
