Osun State University has released its approved general merit and catchment/indigene cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 admission exercise, covering all 107 undergraduate programmes across the institution’s faculties.
The university’s Directorate of Academic Affairs, through a statement signed by Public Relations Officer Ademola Adesoji, said the appropriate university authorities approved the figures to guide prospective candidates ahead of the new session. The institution reiterated that admission remains strictly merit-based, subject to candidates meeting all prescribed requirements and other conditions set by the university and relevant regulatory bodies.
Where the Marks Stand
Among the health and law-related programmes, competition appears steepest. Nursing carries the highest general cut-off mark on the list at 77.4, with a catchment/indigene mark of 74.4. Law trails closely behind, with LLB (Bachelor of Law) set at 77.1 general and 73 catchment, while Common and Islamic Law sits at 71.3 general and 66.5 catchment. Radiography and Radiation Science (74.5) and B.MLS (73.8) also rank among the higher thresholds.
On the social sciences and humanities side, Mass Communication (68.7), Public Relations (67.6), International Relations and Diplomacy (68) and Criminology and Security Studies (66.7) post some of the steeper general cut-offs within their cluster, alongside Broadcasting (65.4) and Journalism and Media Studies (64.5).
In the sciences and engineering, Mechatronics (66.8) and Software Engineering (66.1) lead their category, with Computer Science (65.6), Cybersecurity (63.8), and Civil Engineering (64) following closely.
At the other end of the scale, B.Sc. (Ed) Mathematics carries the lowest general cut-off mark on the entire list at 43, with a catchment mark of 40. Other programmes with comparatively lower thresholds include B. Agric. Wildlife Management (49.8), B. Agric. Forestry (50) and B.Sc. Transport Management (50.3).
Across nearly every programme listed, catchment and indigene applicants benefit from a reduced cut-off mark relative to the general merit requirement, a gap that in some programmes, such as B.A. French & International Studies (63.6 general against 45 catchment), runs close to 20 points.
A Warning Alongside the Release
Beyond the figures themselves, the university used the statement to caution prospective candidates against a recurring risk during admission seasons. It warned against individuals or platforms claiming to offer admission slots, preferential consideration, or influence over the admission process, stressing that candidates who rely on such claims do so at their own risk.
The university said it would not be held responsible for financial loss, misinformation, or other consequences arising from reliance on information obtained outside its official communication channels. It advised prospective candidates to source all admission-related information strictly through UNIOSUN’s official website and verified social media platforms, and to disregard unofficial messages circulating on WhatsApp groups and other online spaces unless such information can be traced back to the university’s verified channels.
The full schedule of cut-off marks across all 107 programmes has been published alongside the university’s statement for the guidance of prospective candidates ahead of the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
